Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backup, Storage, and Disaster Recovery (DR) Manager to lead and manage a team of Administrators and Engineers to support Russell Investments’ backup, storage, and disaster recovery services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing and implementing complex backup, storage, and disaster recovery solutions as well as experience managing technical teams. A strong partnership with business units to include Compliance, Risk and Legal is necessary to ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, or Engineering. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • 10 years of experience in managing or providing technology or business system solution/product/service strategies and directions with large, distributed complex systems.
  • 5 years of demonstrated hands on experience understanding and integrating existing systems and technologies around storage and backup technologies, preferably with Dell-EMC and Veritas products.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience working with service providers and vendors.
  • 3-4 years supervisory/team lead experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operations, troubleshooting, and implementation of all backup, storage and disaster recovery services.
  • Manage a high skilled team of Engineers.
  • Provide proactive technical management and support including:
    • Monitoring of service and performance metrics
    • Incident troubleshooting, escalation, and facilitation
    • Service incident communication
    • Service and industry trend analysis
    • Manage and maintain service contracts with vendors
    • Architecture collaboration and project delivery
    • Infrastructure implementations, upgrades, and new service offerings
    • Hardware and software lifecycle management
  • Participate in internal IT service, change, and request management processes.
  • Plan and assist procurement and forecasting/approval of budgetary items.
  • Collaborate with Architecture team in planning, communication, and implementation of modern technologies and evolution of existing technologies.
  • Serve as project lead in the implementation of projects for new or enhanced infrastructure technologies or services.
  • Act as a project liaison to business projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to step into complex issues, configurations, and perform necessary tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Remain current with industry brokered service and technology trends, costs, and strategies as well as Russell Investments’ business drivers.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and inventory of all managed environments.
  • Responsible for timely on-call response to incidents.
  • Manage an operational budget.
  • Participate in other IT projects and/or tasks as needed.
  • Manage and implement complex storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Develop and maintain backup, storage, and disaster recovery architecture diagrams and documentation.
  • Ensure the security and reliability of the backup, storage, and disaster recovery services.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other IT teams.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure the successful implementation of backup, storage, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Stay up to date with emerging backup, storage, and disaster recovery technologies and trends.

Experience

  • ​Experience leading technology resources supporting daily operations, request fulfillment, and project initiatives.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in VSE+Veritas NetBackup, NetBackup Catalog Manipulation, ASC Master, and Appliances Configuration & Management.
  • Strong technology subject matter expertise with the ability to recognize trends and innovate effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
  • Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities, has a desire for continuous learning, and proposes solutions. 
  • Demonstrated initiative-taking approach to problem-solving with strong judgment and decision-making capability.

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to set shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with discretion and maintain complete confidentiality.

  • Previous financial industry background preferred.
