Position Purpose
The Manager of Accounting will supervise and assist with general ledger accounting and month-end close in a fast-paced corporate environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end close process for multiple corporate entities
- Perform complex analysis for monthly and non-routine transactions and account reconciliations
- Prepare various regulatory reporting as required for the firm’s Broker Dealer
- Review overall process, systems and outputs related to reporting to ensure design and implementation results are consistent, accurate, and contain complete financial and operational information
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance and automate accounting and reporting processes
- Assist with other accounting and financial reporting related projects as needed
- Provide support to external auditors for year-end audits and tax preparation
- Research technical financial reporting matters and draft memos and policies to comply with applicable standards
- Position may require after-hours commitment as need arises for time-sensitive requests and to meet deadlines
Additionally:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Review work performed by senior associates and accountants
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or related field
- Experience as a Broker-Dealer FINOP preferred
- Series 28 or willing to test within 3 months of hire
- CPA certification preferred
- 8+ years overall experience; experience in private equity/real estate or public accounting preferred
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Technical Skills Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience in Yardi, MRI, J. D. Edwards or comparable software
- Experience with data warehouse and BI tools (e.g. Tableau/PowerBI) preferred
- Familiarity with Nexus Payables or comparable software preferred
Communication Skills Requirements:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex agreements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Ability to analyze and present large amounts of information in a manner that is clear, concise, and actionable
- Demonstrated ability to form effective business relationships with team members, other CIM employees and other key contacts
Reasoning Skills Requirements:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and accurately and independently draw valid conclusions
- Deadline driven and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and to proactively evaluate and address work opportunities within the area of responsibility
- Highly analytical and detail oriented
Performance Metrics:
- Accuracy in work product
- Timeliness in completion of work product
- Presentation ability (verbal and deliverables)
