OVERVIEW:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Portfolio & Account Leadership

  • Manage an assigned book of top-tier brand and advertiser accounts, serving as the senior point of contact and escalation resource for the team on those accounts.

  • Serve as an escalation point for Account Managers on the team, providing guidance on complex client situations, campaign issues, and relationship-sensitive decisions.

  • Shape the team's vision for what best-in-class account stewardship looks like within a retail media environment, and build the systems, processes, and talent to bring that vision to life.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Directly manage 1-2 Account Managers, providing day-to-day coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.

  • Partner with the Director of Account Management to support staffing decisions, onboarding of new team members, and building a team culture grounded in accountability and client-first thinking.

  • Identify skill development opportunities for direct reports and support their growth through coaching, stretch assignments, and exposure to more complex accounts and situations.

  • Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, and recognize and reward high performance consistently.

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment where knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and continuous learning are embedded in how the team operates.

  • Build effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals by establishing common objectives and a shared mindset.

  • Manage execution responsibilities and workload of direct/indirect reports to achieve functional deliverables on time and with quality.

  • Develop talent through coaching, feedback, exposure, and stretch assignments in order to meet their own career goals as well as the organization’s priorities.

  • Establish strategic staffing and succession plans; successfully deliver on proposed staffing objectives.

  • Drive the talent selection process in alignment with the company’s talent philosophy for open direct/indirect reporting positions; Ensure all direct reports are appropriately trained and on-boarded.

  • Drive engagement by creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives; focus on voice of teammate data (e.g., Engagement & Pulse results), partnering with organization leadership to drive necessary changes.

Brand & Advertiser Campaign Stewardship

  • Ensure assigned brand and advertiser partners receive proactive, end-to-end account stewardship from pre-campaign kickoff through in-flight optimization, post-campaign wrap, and renewal planning.

  • Personally own and steward assigned top-book accounts, acting as a trusted advisor who understands each brand’s business objectives and translates them into actionable campaign strategy.

  • Model and champion a proactive service approach, surfacing insights, flagging risks, and recommending optimizations before clients identify them.

  • Drive retention and investment growth within the assigned portfolio by consistently delivering against campaign objectives and ensuring brand partners can clearly articulate the value they receive.

  • Maintain a consistent cadence of in-flight performance reviews, optimization check-ins, and post-campaign readouts that keep brand partners informed and invested in the partnership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Influence

  • Communicate weekly with internal leadership, including Media Planning, Sales, Analytics, and Product, representing the Account Management team's perspective and ensuring alignment on priorities.

  • Surface client feedback and campaign learnings to the Director of Account Management and cross-functional partners to inform process improvements and product decisions.

  • Partner closely with Media Activation to ensure campaign strategies are properly set up and executed to deliver against advertiser objectives.

  • Collaborate with the Analytics and Reporting function to ensure performance measurement frameworks, attribution methodologies, and reporting cadences serve both internal and client needs.

  • Work alongside Legal and Finance on advertiser contracts, Insertion Orders, and investment structures, ensuring commercial agreements accurately reflect the campaign structure.

  • Act as a bridge between Sales and Activation, ensuring a smooth handoff from commitment to activation and that client expectations set during the sales process are achievable and honored.

Operational Excellence & Process Development

  • Follow and contribute to account management processes, playbooks, and frameworks, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency across the portfolio.

  • Hold a high-quality bar for campaign setup, in-flight monitoring, and wrap reporting on all assigned accounts, ensuring executional excellence at every stage of the campaign lifecycle.

  • Identify friction points in the client experience and proactively work with internal partners to resolve issues before they escalate.

  • Use campaign data and client feedback to continuously sharpen the quality of account stewardship, bringing learnings back to the team and to the Director.

  • Maintain strong visibility into the performance of all assigned accounts and use that data to prioritize attention, flag risks early, and surface upsell or renewal opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4 - 7 years w/4+ years of experience in account management, client services, or campaign management in a media, advertising, or retail & commerce media environment.

  • 1+ years of people management or mentorship experience, with a desire to grow as a people leader

  • Strong familiarity with digital media execution, including how campaigns are structured, trafficked, optimized, and measured across offsite and owned channels.

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to simplify complex campaign information for brand partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Experience managing brand or advertiser relationships directly, including navigating campaign issues, communicating performance, identifying growth opportunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate across Media Activation, Planning, Sales, and Reporting to deliver on campaign commitments.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret campaign performance data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for clients and internal teams.

  • Preferred prior experience in retail or commerce media environment.

  • Preferred experience managing accounts with major national brands or advertising agencies.

  • Preferred exposure to Insertion Orders and campaign investment structures in a media or advertising context.

  • Preferred familiarity with retail media measurement, attribution methodologies, and how performance data is communicated to brand partners.

Targeted Pay Range: $83,000.00 - $138,200.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
