Join us as a Senior Mainframe Developer in our Global Transaction Processing application team working in conjunction with our larger Custody Applications Development Organization.
Brown Brothers Harriman is looking for a talented and self-motivated Senior Mainframe Developer with a strong background in z/OS mainframe technologies to be a member of the Global Transaction Processing application development team. The individual in this role will be responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and troubleshooting of trade management solutions. The ideal candidate should possess a high degree of organization, effective communication, the ability to work individually as well as with other Systems Developers and Business Analysts and Testers.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Design, develop and maintain mainframe applications using CA Gen, COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
· Perform code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure software quality and performance.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
· Analyze and optimize existing code and systems to improve performance and reliability.
· Ensure adherence to security, performance, and coding standards.
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and other team members.
· Maintain metadata and data lineage for all data intake processes and the necessary Compliance documentation.
· Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
· Prepare technical documentation and maintain system documentation as per company standards.
· Being available 24x7 to assist in problem resolution and high systems availability.
· Participate in periodic BCP exercises, ensuring BCP readiness of the system.
· Stay up to date with mainframe technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications for the role include:
· Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in mainframe development and support.
· Expert level knowledge in developing both batch and CICS COBOL mainframe programs.
· Expert level knowledge of DB2 and ability to create efficient SQL queries.
· Experience with IBM MQ, JCL, VSAM, SPUFI, Platinum, Changeman, Xpediter, FTP/SFTP, as well as debugging utilities.
· Experience in performance tuning.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to articulate issues and propose viable solutions.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
· Detail oriented and committed to quality and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with Coolgen / CA Gen technology.
· Experience with mainframe modernization efforts and knowledge of integrating mainframe applications with modern systems.
