Synechron is seeking a highly skilled Support Analyst to join our team, responsible for maintaining and supporting large-scale mainframe banking systems. In this role, you will ensure the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of critical banking applications. The Support Analyst will serve as a key technical resource, providing expert-level support, incident resolution, and proactive system management to facilitate seamless banking operations. Your contributions will directly impact operational efficiency, system reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Software RequirementsRequired Skills & Experience:
- Mainframe development and support tools:
- COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, Assembler
- Mainframe management and scheduling:
- Control-M, Control-D
- Data and file management:
- File Manager, SPUFI, Xpeditor
- Basic knowledge of 2BDB2 (preferred but not mandatory)
- Monitoring and performance tools relevant to mainframe resource management
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with additional mainframe tools and newer automation or operational monitoring solutions
- Provide ongoing support for large-scale mainframe banking applications, ensuring optimal system performance and availability
- Manage incident and problem resolution activities to minimize system outages and impact on business operations
- Support functional testing phases (SIT/UAT) by troubleshooting issues and clarifying requirements
- Collaborate effectively with cross-team application groups, sharing knowledge and resolving issues efficiently
- Perform system analysis, debugging, testing, and documentation for small enhancements aligned with evolving business needs
- Maintain strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and quality standards
- Contribute to root cause analysis and create knowledge articles to improve support processes and reduce recurring issues
- Monitor system resources and provide strategic recommendations to optimize performance and capacity planning
- Engage in continuous improvement of support procedures and technical documentation
- A minimum of 4+ years experience supporting mainframe banking systems or equivalent large-scale enterprise systems
- Extensive hands-on experience with mainframe programming and support in a production environment
- Proven expertise in incident and problem management, with the ability to handle critical outages
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting functional testing phases (SIT/UAT) and providing end-user support
- Industry experience within banking, finance, or similarly regulated sectors is preferred but not mandatory
- Monitor mainframe systems to ensure stability and performance
- Resolve production incidents promptly, adhering to SLA commitments
- Support functional and technical teams during testing phases, troubleshooting issues and providing guidance
- Manage and execute small system enhancements, documenting design, testing, and implementation steps
- Analyze system logs and resource utilization, identifying opportunities for optimization
- Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, system upgrades, and patching
- Develop and update knowledge articles and documentation for support procedures
- Engage regularly with business users and technical teams to communicate status, resolutions, and improvements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered
- Certifications related to mainframe technologies (e.g., IBM Certified System Programmer, COBOL certifications) are preferred
- Proven track record of supporting large-scale mainframe banking applications
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on mainframe innovations and best practices
- Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills aimed at root cause resolution
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight SLA deadlines
