Your day at NTT DATA

Seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior team members in our enterprise IT environment.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex COBOL applications
• Architect robust JCL workflows and system integrations
• Advanced VSAM file management and optimization
• Mentor and develop junior mainframe developers
• Lead code reviews and technical knowledge transfer
• Implement best practices in mainframe development
• Drive process improvements and technical standards

Knowledge and Attributes:

• 5+ years of advanced mainframe development experience
• Expert-level COBOL programming skills
• Complex JCL script development and optimization
• Advanced VSAM file handling and performance tuning
• Comprehensive z/OS system architecture knowledge
• Version control system architecture and strategy
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Some expertise of data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Some expertise in SQL and no-SQL data stores
• Some proficiency with agile, lean practices and believes in test-driven development.
• Possess a can-do attitude and one that takes initiative
• Ability to work well in a diverse team with different backgrounds and experience levels
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Some proficiency with CI/CD concepts and tools
• Excellent attention to detail

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals preferred.
• Relevant agile certifications preferred.

Required Experience:

• Ability to develop junior developer's technical skills
• Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Create training materials and technical documentation
• Guide architectural decisions and design patterns
• Comprehensive understanding of mainframe architecture
• Ability to write efficient, maintainable COBOL code
• Establish coding standards and best practices
• Experience with z/OS operating environment
• Experience with IMS databases
