Microsoft 365 AI Governance, Agent 365, Copilot Agent Engineering SME
The Microsoft 365 AI Governance, Agent 365, Copilot Agent Engineering SME provides operational, technical governance, and Level 3 escalation support for Microsoft AI services. This role is a key contributor for sustaining and maturing the organization’s Microsoft AI ecosystem including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Copilot Agents, Microsoft 365 agent capabilities, Microsoft Frontier AI features and associated governance controls.
The person in this role serves as the technical and operational subject matter expert for AI-enabled Microsoft 365 Services, ensuring AI solutions and features are deployed securely, governed effectively, aligned to business objectives, and operated at enterprise scale. The engineer in this role will partner with Security, Compliance, Architecture, Legal, Risk and Business stakeholders to establish AI guardrails, manage service performance, support adoption, and enable responsible use of Microsoft AI technologies across the organization. The Microsoft 365 AI Engineer is a key enabler for IT and Business members, providing advisory guidance and solutions for complex challenges and participates in the delivery of the largest, most complex, and most strategic Microsoft 365 projects and roadmap strategy. Communication and professionalism are paramount as this role represents RSM Technical Services to effectively engage with technical and business teams as well as external providers of IT services.
The M365 Operations Team is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of M365, ensuring the environment is supported and resilient. The team provides escalation support for infrastructure, architecture, delivery, and operations, supporting M365 services and integrated systems, level 3 escalations for incident and problem management for these services and proactively ensuring continued operation and optimal performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- The Microsoft AI Governance, Agent 365 and Copilot Agent SME will collaborate with M365 Operations & Platform team leadership to develop and lead operational governance for Microsoft AI capabilities across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Copilot Agents, Copilot Studio, Agent 365, Microsoft Frontier and other emerging Microsoft agent experiences. Collaborate to define, implement and sustain AI governance standards, operating procedures, and guardrails that support responsible AI usage, acceptable use, data protection, compliance and audit readiness.
- Partner with Security, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Legal and Architecture teams to ensure AI solutions align with enterprise policies, regulatory requirements, identity controls, retention standards, and information protection practices. Establish governance processes for agent publishing, approval, monitoring, exception handling, lifecycle reviews and retirement.
- Mature the enterprise support model for Copilot Agents and Copilot-based solutions from ideation through production support. Define intake, design review, risk assessment, testing, release management, documentation, change control, monitoring, and post-deployment support processes.
- Review new agent use cases for feasibility, data sensitivity, supportability and policy alignment. Ensure agents are published with clear ownership, human oversight, escalation paths, and lifecycle controls. Collaborate to align AI service delivery with Microsoft security and compliance controls, including Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention, sensitivity labels, access governance, auditing, retention and eDiscovery where applicable. Identify and mitigate risks related to data spillage, connector exposure and unauthorized agent publishing. Contribute to governance playbooks for incident response, issue triage, and remediation related to AI-enabled services.
- Provide daily operational oversight and level 3 support for AI-enabled Microsoft 365 services in a complex enterprise environment. Troubleshoot service-impacting issues, coordinate with Microsoft and third-party vendors as needed, and restore service health in accordance with operational standards. Develop service and agent monitoring, usage analytics, governance reporting and operational dashboards to measure adoption, effectiveness, risk posture, and service quality. Identify improvement opportunities and drive automation, process optimization and support model maturity.
- Utilize PowerShell, APIs, automation frameworks and other tools to streamline AI deployment, governance enforcement, operational reporting, and environmental management. Develop methods to improve repeatability, control and scalability.
- Design and maintain automation for routine governance checks, agent reviews, inventory reporting and lifecycle notifications across Microsoft AI services.
- Provides direct support for M365 services and technologies. Support 3rd party integrations, Enterprise Data set flows, and roadmap improvements in RSM M365 Hybrid Multi-Geo production, development and other environments that interact with RSM M365 technologies and services.
- Collaborate to help build a world-class, high-performing team and ensure operational proficiency.
- Participate in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, change support and rotational on-call responsibilities as required for enterprise operations.
