The role:
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our M&A Finance team, focusing on finance and accounting within our extensive acquisition portfolio. This is a critical role supporting The Access Group's M&A strategy, requiring someone who can navigate complex financial information and technical accounting concepts.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Acquisition Reporting (on acquisition)
• Support the reporting of business actuals through Diligence and up to Completion, liaising with the M&A modelling team and the acquisition finance team to ensure alignment between the business case and actual results
• Provision of general guidance and support to newly acquired businesses
2. Acquisition Financial Review (month-end)
• Support month-end financial reviews for newly acquired companies (typically c. 8 – 12 businesses to track each month), working closely with Financial Operations, Performance Management, Commercial Finance teams and newly acquired businesses
• Partner with M&A Financial Operations to facilitate efficient month-end closing procedures and accurate financials
• Detailed review of results of the unintegrated acquisitions for anomalies and issues to improve the accuracy of reporting including alignment to Access accounting policies
• Monitoring and tracking of debtor collection and managing the reporting into OTC pre-acquisition
3. Earnout Management & Forecasting
• Monitor and forecast earnout obligations based on acquisition performance
• Calculate deferred consideration at Completion and update monthly based on revised forecasts
• Input into the SPA definition of earn-out, aligning the definition to what is accurately trackable
• For each acquisition, understand the earn-out mechanism and ensure that the right processes are in place to be able to track the underlying earn-out drivers
• Calculate earn-outs based on the SPA definition
• Navigate the earn-out process across key stakeholders including the sellers of the business, the divisional Finance Business Partners and senior management
As a well-rounded Financial Accountant, your Skills and Experiences likely include:
• Qualified Accountant
• Audit, Transaction Services or M&A related background – preferred not essential
• Technically strong
• Strong Analytical skills with the ability to spot trends, and good attention to detail
• Logical, with the ability to understand different drivers of key metrics and how these influence one another
• Adaptable, flexible and able to work well under time pressure
• Fast learner who is able to pick up new concepts quickly
