LTL Specialist
Covington, KY HQ
In office M-F 8am-5pm
Responsibilities:
LTL Specialists will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and facilitating less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments for the freight brokerage. Their primary focus will be to proactively and professionally communicate with carriers, customers, and internal team members to ensure smooth execution of LTL freight movements while adhering to all company’s best practices.
Reports to the Snr. Director of Operations
Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Collaborate with Account Representatives, Customers, and Operations Managers to ensure LTL shipments are accurately tracked, updated, and delivered on time.
⦁ Owns the LTL shipment process, including managing carrier relationships, tracking shipments, and providing timely updates within the Transportation Management System (TMS) and Priority 1.
⦁ Effectively communicates with customers, carriers, and internal team members in a collaborative environment to ensure LTL freight is managed efficiently and meets company standards.
⦁ Provides exceptional customer and carrier service, even in challenging situations, escalating issues to the appropriate party to ensure timely resolutions for customers.
⦁ Help mitigate claims and variances by disputing discrepancies and working through the claim process.
⦁ Documents all shipment progress, updates, and communications in the TMS, including statuses such as Booked, Picked Up, In Transit, At Delivery, and Delivered. Training will be provided.
⦁ Escalates service or operational issues promptly to provide solutions for customers and carriers.
⦁ Understands the freight brokerage’s goals and works collaboratively with team members to achieve departmental objectives.
⦁ Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
⦁ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
⦁ Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
⦁ Proficient typing and general computer skills.
⦁ Ability to handle multiple phone calls and email correspondence efficiently.
⦁ Capable of managing stressful situations calmly and professionally.
⦁ Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with co-workers.
⦁ Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly without becoming overwhelmed.
⦁ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; TMS experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
⦁ Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree.
⦁ Preferred: 1 year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or LTL operations.
