The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and optimising the organisation's global logistics and freight operations. The role will lead a comprehensive assessment of current logistics providers, commercial arrangements and service performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external logistics partners, the Logistics Specialist will develop and manage a competitive tender process, evaluate alternative providers, and make recommendations that support the business's current and future operational requirements.
What You'll Be Doing- Conduct a comprehensive review of existing logistics and freight arrangements across all operating regions.
- Assess the performance of current logistics providers against agreed service levels, cost, quality, responsiveness and geographic coverage.
- Analyse freight spend and logistics costs to identify savings opportunities and operational efficiencies.
- Benchmark existing contracts, pricing structures and commercial terms against current market standards and best practice.
- Develop and manage a formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) and/or Request for Proposal (RFP) process for logistics services.
- Identify, evaluate and recommend global logistics providers capable of supporting both current operations and future business growth.
- Perform detailed commercial, operational and risk assessments of potential logistics partners.
- Prepare business cases and recommendations outlining cost-saving opportunities, service improvements, risk mitigation strategies and network optimisation initiatives.
- Support supplier selection, contract negotiations and implementation planning to ensure a smooth transition where new providers are appointed.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Finance, Sales and regional teams to ensure logistics solutions align with business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, freight rates and emerging logistics technologies to ensure the organisation remains competitive.
- Develop reporting and performance metrics to measure supplier effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience in logistics, freight, supply chain or procurement, ideally within an international or global business.
- Strong understanding of international freight, transportation and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Experience managing RFQ/RFP processes and supplier evaluations.
- Commercially astute with strong analytical and financial evaluation skills.
- Experience benchmarking supplier performance and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
