Who We Are:

Recognized by Gartner in their Modern 4PL Market Guide, Redwood Logistics is at the forefront of industry innovation. Our cutting-edge supply chain technology pairs with the expertise of our brilliant minds to empower logistics execution across North America and Mexico.

Leveraging a comprehensive range of services, data-centric network solutions, and a seamlessly integrated platform, we have established our prominence as a key player in the mid-market segment within the freight tech industry.

Whether you’re just starting your career or are an established professional looking for your next opportunity, Redwood inspires innovation across teams to provide transformative solutions for our customers.

Purpose of Your Work:

As a Logistics Engineer working within Managed Services (one of our entities), you will be responsible to identify and model transportation optimization opportunities for Redwood's managed clients. You will combine logistics expertise with analytical and technical skills to improve transportation networks, reduce cost, and develop practical recommendations for customers.

This role works closely with Client Success, Data Science, Reporting & Analytics, Technology, Solution Design, Operations, and customer teams to deliver engineering solutions and continuously improve how we identify and solve transportation challenges.

How You Make a Difference Everyday:

Transportation Engineering & Optimization

  • Perform engineering studies including consolidation, mode optimization, LTL pooling, center-of-gravity analysis, continuous improvement assessments, and route/milk-run optimization.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities and model alternative network, mode, consolidation, and routing strategies.
  • Apply logistics and operational knowledge to develop realistic modeling assumptions, evaluate results, and recommend solutions that make sense in practice.

Data, Tools & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and validate data for engineering studies, including location normalization, shipment segmentation, and transportation cost baselines.
  • Use transportation optimization, rating, simulation, and network modeling tools to execute studies and evaluate opportunities.
  • Partner with Data Science and Solutions to develop tools and processes that improve Engineering efficiency, quality, consistency, and modeling capabilities.

Customer Value

  • Proactively identify opportunities through supply chain assessments that consider both transportation data and customer priorities.
  • Quantify opportunities using consistent savings methodologies and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Present findings to customers and internal teams and provide Engineering expertise to support implementation planning.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Logistics Engineers combine transportation knowledge with strong analytical judgment. You understand how supply chains operate, know how to use data and modeling tools to uncover opportunities, challenge results when they do not make operational sense, and turn analysis into recommendations customers can act on.

You’ve Got This?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain operations, or transportation engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation operations, including truckload, LTL, consolidation, routing, mode selection, transportation rates, and equipment utilization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply logistics knowledge to data and modeling.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong technical aptitude; experience with transportation optimization, network modeling, simulation, SQL, or similar analytical tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate analysis into clear business and customer recommendations.
  • Detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable working with complex transportation data.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, operational, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
