Logistics Engineer (Costa Rica GBS)
Huntsman is seeking a Logistics Engineer supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the Americas Senior Logistics Engineer.
Job Scope
Support the day-to-day operations of the supply chain and logistics team, including transportation coordination, problem resolution, cost optimization, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses on supporting the Advanced Materials divisions for the Americas region through logistics research, development, and process improvement.
In summary, as the Logistics Engineer, you will:
• Prepare for and participate in Transportation Management System (TMS) provider performance review meetings, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and update trackers and reports related to logistics operations for warehousing and transportation to enable process improvements and data-driven decision-making.
• Support daily communication and coordination with the TMS provider.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce transportation costs across Americas sites and globally.
• Monitor transportation performance, including on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier compliance.
• Support the achievement of on-time delivery targets for shipments.
• Address deviations from TMS provider Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure an appropriate level of service execution.
• Conduct market assessments and evaluate freight forwarders to improve transit times through optimized lanes and service providers.
• Develop and maintain process documentation to support standardization and ensure accessibility of information for key stakeholders.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
Candidates must be willing to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our office located in AFZ, Heredia. Additional office days may be required as needed or during corporate visits.
Minimum Qualifications
Education required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
- 2–4+ years of professional experience in the field of logistics and/or supply chain.
Skills and knowledge
- Fluent in English and Spanish – written and spoken proficiency.
- Proven knowledge in process improvement.
- Strong analytical skills, with a data-oriented mindset.
- Solutions-oriented with the ability to apply alternatives for customers and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma certificate.
- Project management experience.
- SAP/ERP software process knowledge.
- High proficiency in major IT tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Knowledge or experience in SOP and Work Instructions Management.
- Knowledge of Portuguese to support communication with regional partners.
