Coordinates carrier dispatch, driver scheduling, routing, back-hauls, freight movement, and transportation problem resolution. Ensures cost-effective, compliant, and on-time deliveries while maintaining carrier records and training users and vendors on transportation systems. Job Responsibilities
  • Dispatch carrier trucks, schedule and route drivers, cover back-hauls, and discuss delivery services with internal customers
  • Responsible for ensuring the most efficient freight movement and cost-effective service by working with multiple business units to centralize third party trucking movements
  • Ability to coordinate drivers locally and across the country with accuracy, respect, and excellent service
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with DOT, Safety regulations and Responsible Care requirements
  • Responsible to meet on-time performance requirements
  • Resolve transportation problems with urgency and professionalism by working with a team and independently
  • Maintain proper and up-to-date files on carriers
  • Ability to quickly learn and train internal customers and external vendors on Transportation Management System
  • Develop requests for proposals for truck shipments for various segments of the business. Analyze responses and manage the dispatch process once decision is made.
  • Ability to quickly learn internal ERP systems.  Oracle experience a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation / logistics
  • Effective listening and strong communication skills for interaction with drivers, customers and colleagues
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
  • Must be a team player, and provide leadership
  • Experience with a Transportation Management System preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
