Job Purpose

Lead and optimize end-to-end logistics operations for the KBR-IFMS Project in Basra. Ensure efficient transportation, warehousing, material receipt, distribution, and site support; coordinate closely with procurement, material management, and project teams to achieve on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and compliant, safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the project logistics strategy, aligning with budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Lead and mentor the Logistics, Material Management, Compliance, Vendor Management, Supply Chain, Contracts Management, and Facility Management teams as appropriate.
  • Plan and manage inbound and outbound logistics, transportation, warehousing, inventory stewardship, and material staging to support site operations.
  • Optimize transportation routes, carrier selection, freight terms, and cost-to-serve; monitor carrier performance and service levels.
  • Oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with procurement and supplier management to ensure reliable and compliant material flows.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, company policies, and project-specific standards (ethics, anti-corruption, HSE).
  • Monitor KPIs for logistics and supply chain performance; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project controls, engineering, and operations to align logistics milestones with project schedules.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans for transport disruptions, customs, lead times, and supplier reliability; establish contingency options.
  • Manage contract administration related to logistics services, including change management and claims mitigation where applicable.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, gatekeeping for inbound/outbound shipments, and audit trails.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across logistics operations.
  • Prepare and present regular logistics status reports to project leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in leading teams across Material Management, Logistics, Compliance, Vendor Management, Supply Chain, Contracts Management, and Procurement for Facility Management or related sectors.
  • Proven track record in large-scale project logistics, preferably in oil & gas, industrial, or defense environments (onshore/offshore experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of international and local logistics processes, regulatory requirements, and contract considerations.

Technical Skills

  • End-to-end logistics management (planning, transportation, warehousing, distribution, and reverse flow)
  • Freight, customs, and international shipping knowledge (if applicable)
  • Inventory management and material handling best practices
  • Vendor and carrier relationship management; negotiation and cost optimization
  • Compliance, ethics, HSE, and risk management related to logistics
  • Data analysis, KPIs, and performance reporting
  • ERP/Logistics systems proficiency (e.g., SAP (MM/SD), Oracle SCM, or equivalent)
  • Change management and issue resolution
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Familiarity with Basra/Iraq local market dynamics and regulatory environment is advantageous
