Job Description

This LMR Technician (Level II) - Subscribers position is responsible for providing technical and administrative support within the Portable Support Group of a sensitive Federal customer located in Washington D.C. The role further includes providing preventive and corrective radio maintenance and repairs of LMR subscriber radios and ancillary equipment associated with the radio communications mission. The LMR Technician (Level II) - Subscribers position shall be responsible for supporting “Subscribers” to include portable radios and their ancillary accessories, portable chargers, mobile radios, siren controllers, Key Variable Loaders (KVL), transportable mobiles (TXM), operating Computer Programming Software (CPS), bench maintenance devices, etc. This position reports to the on-site Senior Manager of the Field Service Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with Sales, Program Manager, Sr. Field Service Team Manager, and the System Integration team to set strategy, direction and implementation

  • Provide preventative maintenance services on Motorola subscribers including APX mobiles and portables, as well as, ancillary equipment (siren controllers, control heads, chargers, etc.)

  • Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 diagnostics and repair on Motorola subscribers as listed above.

  • Programming of Motorola subscriber devices using supplied codeplugs (minimal codeplug creation/alterations required) using Motorola CPS.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, maintain, align, and program Motorola handheld subscriber units (APX6000/8000, TXM1000/2000/3000 and KVL 3000/5000)

  • Open and close trouble tickets/service tickets utilizing customer ticketing system (ServiceNow)

  • Document and/or validate incoming and outgoing assets

  • Program Motorola subscriber devices using supplied codeplugs (minimal codeplug creation/alterations required) using Motorola CPS.

  • Program individual unit ID's, radio set identifiers (AID, UID, etc.), unit IP addresses, etc.

  • Load encryption keys for test and validation (including OTAR), clear keys upon completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of ServiceNow trouble ticketing system

  • Demonstrated understanding of subscriber accessories such as Remote Speaker Microphones, antennas, surveillance kits, keyload adapters, holsters, etc.

  • Demonstrated understanding and utilization of Motorola CPS

  • Demonstrated understanding and utilization of Anritsu/Viavi/Aeroflex service monitor, wattmeter, etc. usage and operation

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Applications required; experience with Microsoft Visio a plus

  • Self-motivated, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills 

  • Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues, customers, and third party service professionals.

Additional Requirements:

  • The role entails providing on-premises support to our valued customers in the Washington D.C. area

  • Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.



Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Associates degree OR trade school certification AND 2+ years of experience in one of the following: Subscribers, LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telec

  • ommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Motorola equipment or Networking equipment.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts

  • Must have a valid driver's license for this position
