About The Role

The Litigation Paralegal will support the Litigation team with a variety of projects, including assisting in the evaluation and resolution of pre-litigation and litigation matters. This position will also complete special projects as assigned and assist the Legal Department as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the administrative lifecycle of claims and litigation matters from initial notice through resolution and closure, including intake, evaluation, assignment, and tracking.
  • Maintain complete and accurate matter files and records, including pleadings, correspondence, discovery, contracts, photographs, reports, settlement documents, claim and litigation status, exposure, reserves, settlement amounts, and disposition.
  • Coordinate litigation holds, document preservation, collection, and production in partnership with attorneys and appropriate business functions.
  • Track court deadlines, discovery obligations, hearings, mediations, depositions, expert deadlines, and other critical dates.
  • Assist attorneys with discovery responses, subpoenas, document productions, chronologies, witness files, legal and factual research, and trial or mediation preparation.
  • Prepare legal documents and internal and external correspondence, including settlement documentation and releases, and assist with payment processing and matter closure.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel regarding matter status, budgets, invoices, reporting requirements, and upcoming deadlines; review legal invoices and assist with billing compliance and matter budgeting.
  • Assist claim reporting and information exchange with Risk Management, insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators, as appropriate.
  • Assist with or prepare periodic claims and litigation reports, dashboards, and summaries for Legal leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Identify aging matters, missed milestones, developing trends, and matters requiring attorney or leadership attention.
  • Support continuous improvement of claims and litigation processes, procedures, templates, and matter-management systems.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities, including copying, scanning, finalizing documentation for distribution, and uploading information and documents into SharePoint.
  • Maintain confidentiality, appropriately protect attorney-client privilege, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal analyst, paralegal, or claims experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Completion of Paralegal Education (Certificate) or Paralegal Certification preferred.
  • Time management skills and the ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
