The Litigation Assistant provides administrative and legal support throughout the litigation process, ensuring case files are accurate, organized, and prepared for attorney review. This role is responsible for drafting litigation documents, coordinating medical records, managing case documentation, and supporting attorneys with case preparation and deadlines.
Responsibilities:Provide administrative and legal support throughout the litigation process.
Draft and prepare legal documents, including demands, complaints, preservation letters, discovery requests, subpoenas, deposition notices, and expert exchange documents.
Prepare and organize litigation-related pleadings and documentation for attorney review.
Coordinate medical record requests and follow up with medical providers as needed.
Create and maintain detailed medical timelines.
Prepare, organize, and merge medical records into PDF files.
Upload medical records, invoices, and other case-related documentation into Filevine.
Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date case files in Filevine.
Review case files to ensure all required documentation is available and properly organized.
Assist with preparing cases for litigation deadlines, attorney review, depositions, discovery, and other legal proceedings.
Ensure documents and case information are properly categorized and easily accessible.
Communicate effectively with attorneys, medical providers, and internal team members regarding case documentation and follow-ups.
Previous experience as a Litigation Assistant, Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar legal support role is a plus.
Experience working with Personal Injury (PI) law firms is highly preferred.
Familiarity with the U.S. litigation process and legal terminology.
Experience drafting legal documents and litigation pleadings.
Strong organizational and document-management skills.
Experience working with case management systems; Filevine experience is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the legal team.
Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
- Experience in Personal Injury law
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
