Leidos is seeking an experienced, customer-facing Linux Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team supporting mission-critical infrastructure in a secure, classified environment. This junior-to-mid level role combines strong technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) with excellent communication skills to deliver reliable support to government customers and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives in data center operations, enjoys hands-on hardware tasks, and excels at automating routine processes to improve efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, including demonstrated experience managing both physical and virtual infrastructure in data center settings.
- Serve as a customer-facing administrator, assisting users with application, account, hardware, or other technical issues in a professional and responsive manner.
- Build, maintain, update, and retire virtual, physical, and cloud-based Red Hat (and supporting Windows) hosts.
- Perform hardware/asset management, server and workstation deployment, and create efficient automation solutions (e.g., scripting, Ansible) for repetitive tasks.
- Maintain and support Enterprise Storage systems (e.g., IBM ESS or similar vendor arrays).
- Provision, adjust, or tear down project resources such as Kubernetes namespaces, virtual/physical hosts, workstations, etc.
- Execute data center tasks including equipment inventory, racking and cabling servers, hardware troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Maintain hardware across workstations, servers, Enterprise Storage Arrays from multiple vendors, network equipment, etc., including fault identification, troubleshooting, and coordinating replacement parts orders/installations.
- Coordinate major activities such as data center disruptions (e.g., power work), including clear communication with users and Government Points of Contact (GPOCs).
- Support installation, updating, troubleshooting, and removal of specialty applications, services, and systems to meet project and user needs.
- Install, implement, maintain, and update security controls necessary to sustain required security posture and support Authority to Operate (ATO) for assets.
- Produce clear, usable documentation for internal teams and customers, including procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years of relevant Linux systems administration experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning in physical/virtual environments.
- Hands-on experience with data center operations, hardware management (racking, cabling, troubleshooting), and server/workstation deployment.
- Demonstrated scripting/automation skills (e.g., Bash, Ansible, or similar) to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with proven ability to produce clear technical materials and interact professionally with customers and stakeholders.
- Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
- DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, or equivalent IAT Level II).
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Enterprise Storage (e.g., IBM ESS, NetApp, or similar).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes/OpenShift, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), and Windows Server administration in hybrid environments.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience in classified/secure environments supporting IC/DoD missions.
- Knowledge of security controls implementation (e.g., STIGs, RMF processes) to maintain ATO compliance.
