Join our dynamic team and take ownership of our critical Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment. As a Senior System Administrator, you'll be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable Linux infrastructure that powers our core operations. This includes the maintenance of our VoIP DHCP services and our Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) system. You'll have the opportunity to leverage Red Hat Satellite for efficient system provisioning, patching, and configuration management across our environment – experience with Red Hat Satellite is a must for this role. Your deep expertise in Red Hat technologies, including demonstrated experience in planning and executing seamless upgrades from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 to 9, implementing comprehensive system hardening measures (including hands-on experience with tools like EvaluateStig and OpenSCAP), and managing a Red Hat IdM environment, coupled with your ability to develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Bash and Python, will be crucial in ensuring system stability, performance optimization, and proactive security. You'll also be responsible for providing clear and concise weekly reports on project status. Primary Responsibilities:
Full lifecycle management of our Red Hat systems, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades, with a strong emphasis on utilizing Red Hat Satellite to streamline these processes.
A key aspect of this role will involve participating in and leading the upgrade of our existing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 systems to version 9, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to best practices.
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and health of our VoIP DHCP services and our Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) system, including user and group management, access controls, and ensuring its overall stability and security.
Implementing and maintaining robust system hardening techniques will be a critical part of your daily responsibilities, requiring hands-on experience with security compliance tools such as Evaluate Stig and OpenSCAP to audit, remediate, and ensure adherence to security benchmarks.
Troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions, often leveraging your scripting skills in Bash and Python to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
Developing and maintaining these scripts to manage system administration, monitoring, and deployment workflows.
Collaborating with development and security teams to ensure seamless integration and adherence to best practices is essential, as is providing timely and informative weekly reports on the progress of assigned projects.
Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of our mission-critical Linux infrastructure through effective system management, automation, successful operating system upgrades, the smooth operation of our IdM system, and clear communication.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years’ experience as a Unix System Administrator – Operational experience with RHEL8 and RHEL9. Additional years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Must have Active Secret security clearance.
Requires an current 8140 IAT Level II (Intermediate or Advanced) certificate (CompTIA Security+ or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)).
Training (DISA-US1384 DCWF Linux System Administrator / DISA-US1390 DCWF Windows Systems Administrator).
3+ years deploying Unix in secured environments, i.e., DISA.
3+ years using, updating and maintaining Red Hat Satellite.
Documenting system processes for Unix environments.
HW experience: Knowledge of Dell Servers, iDRAC, AWS and Azure.
SW experience: Operating Systems: RHEL8 and RHEL 9.
Red Hat Satellite Server and Red Hat PCS Clustering.
Experience with running Red Hat systems with SELINUX in “enforcing” mode.
Experience with configuring PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) on RHEL to enable 2-factor authentication via RSA and/or Active Directory.
DISA environment hardening experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Certification.
Ability to apply user requirements to the analysis, planning, and design of technology systems.
Ability to communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to the Government Lead.
Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency.
Ability to work closely with others in a team environment.
Ability to interface with all customer levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
VMWare Aware.
Experience with RHEL 8/9/10.
