Job Description

At TAL, doing what’s right for our customers and people sits at the heart of everything we do. Our Line 1 Risk team plays a critical role in supporting the business to manage risk effectively and operate within our risk appetite. As part of this team, you’ll provide trusted advice and guidance, help identify and mitigate risks, and support change initiatives across Individual Life. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in operational risk and compliance to influence decision-making, strengthen controls, and make a meaningful impact.

You will:

  • Provide high-quality, commercially aware risk and compliance advice to support business success while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with stakeholders to maintain control documentation, conduct assurance reviews, and report on internal control findings.
  •  Support incident management, regulatory reporting, and the escalation of risk and compliance matters.
  • Contribute risk expertise to projects and initiatives, generating insights to help risk owners manage key risks effectively.
  • Champion a strong risk culture by staying across regulatory developments and providing clear, practical guidance to the business.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications and 3–5 years’ experience in Risk Management and/or Compliance.
  • Background of risk and compliance within Banking or Financial Services (Insurance also would be ideal)
  • Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, with experience in control assurance and risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including CPS230 and FAR.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to write and present clearly across forums.
  • Analytical mindset with a solid understanding of the insurance industry and proficiency in relevant systems and software.
