As a Lifting Engineer at DEME Offshore, you will join a core team of specialists who focus on the preparation, execution and standardization of (heavy) lift operations within the company. You will collaborate with tender and project teams by providing engineering support, including critical review of relevant documentation, design of rigging systems and sharing of your knowledge and expertise with regards to their lifting scopes. You will contribute to the development of in-house calculation tools and the DEME-specific lifting standards and procedures.
This position is based at our Headquarters in Zwijndrecht, Belgium.Your responsibilities

support tender teams (10%), projects & operational teams (70%) and develop DEME-specific lifting standards, calculation tools, templates and lifting procedures (20%);

safeguard a sound engineering approach from preparation to execution;

share knowledge and expertise within the company through training and critical review;
-
prepare design calculations and drawings for engineered lift scopes, including follow-up of budget and schedule as defined at the start of the project;

work with engineering companies to review their designs, drawings and reports;
-
work with suppliers to clarify technical requirements for their equipment and to gain relevant knowledge to implement in our standard methods and designs;
-
provide technical input and advice as well as assistance on-site during mobilization and execution of the works;
-
regular site-visits will be required for auditing, incident investigation, involvement of operational teams and as part of the preparation or execution of critical lifts;

develop appropriate in-house calculation tools and guidelines, take care of administration of updated standards, guidelines and norms.
Your profile

MSc Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and technology or Structural Engineering);
-
have an open mind, be able to think out of the box, be eager to gain knowledge;
-
be critical in reviewing, communicative, problem solving and have attention to detail;
-
speak and write fluent English;
-
have a flexible attitude, adapt behaviour and work methods in response to new information, conditions or unexpected obstacles;
-
relevant experience with lifting operations or design is an added value, either onshore or offshore;
-
be able to work closely with others, sometimes in stressful environments, and perform well on individual assignments too;
-
you feel comfortable working with CAD programs (e.g. AutoCAD) or are open to learn (e.g. Inventor, Creo);
-
you feel comfortable working with Excel or Mathcad and are open to learn other tools and software.
