A Gondola/Lift Operations Manager oversees the safe, efficient, and friendly daily operation of ski lifts and gondolas, managing staff hiring, training, scheduling, and performance. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety standards (ANSI/OSHA), managing lift maintenance collaboration, and maintaining guest service excellence.
- Leadership & Management: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise lift staff (operators, leads), fostering a positive, safety-focused culture.
- Operational Safety: Ensure all daily pre-operational lift inspections, logs, and safety checks are conducted in compliance with ANSI/OSHA regulations.
- Guest Experience: Maintain efficient lift loading/unloading, optimize line management (mazes), and ensure staff provides superior service.
- Maintenance Liaison: Work closely with the maintenance department on preventative maintenance and resolve mechanical issues immediately.
- Reporting & Administration: Manage labor budgets, oversee daily incident/accident reports, and maintain operational logs.
- On-Hill Management: Supervise daily opening/closing procedures, including chair cleaning, snow removal, and ramp maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2 years of resort mountain operations experience, with prior supervisory experience.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
- Physical Ability: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work at heights.
- Technical/Other: Proficiency with computers and radio dispatch systems; often requires intermediate or better skiing/snowboarding ability.
