Job Description: Librarian
Role Summary
A reputed Residential / Boarding School in Nainital,
Uttarakhand is seeking an experienced and organized Librarian to
manage and develop the school's library resources while fostering a culture of
reading, research, and lifelong learning among students.
The ideal candidate should have strong library management
skills, experience working in a residential school environment, and the ability
to leverage modern library software and digital resources to enhance student
learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage
the day-to-day operations of the school library.
- Organize,
catalog, and maintain books, journals, periodicals, digital resources, and
reference materials.
- Assist
students and staff in locating and utilizing library resources
effectively.
- Promote
reading habits and independent learning among students.
- Develop
and maintain an up-to-date library collection aligned with academic
requirements.
- Coordinate
book fairs, reading programs, literary events, and library activities.
- Maintain
library records, accession registers, inventory, and circulation systems.
- Ensure
proper classification, shelving, and preservation of library materials.
- Manage
library software, digital databases, and e-learning resources.
- Collaborate
with teachers to support curriculum-related research and learning
activities.
- Prepare
periodic reports on library usage, acquisitions, and resource
requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Master
of Library Science (M.Lib.) – Mandatory
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Librarian in a reputed school.
- Experience
working in a Residential / Boarding School preferred.
- Strong
knowledge of library management systems and cataloging procedures.
- Proficiency
in computer applications and library software.
- Good
organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability
to create an engaging and resource-rich learning environment.
