The Nobel School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant apprentice to join our dynamic school community. In this role, you will work hands-on to support both teachers and students, helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

Apprenticeship Summary:

  • Salary: £8 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday, 9am - 3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break each day
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors 
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification 
  • Location: Mobbsbury Way, Stevenage, SG2 0HS

What you’ll do at work:

  • Assist the class teacher with resource preparation, material organization, and general classroom management.
  • Deliver planned learning sessions under the guidance of the SENDCo to help students achieve their goals.
  • Support students in various settings, including mainstream lessons, small group work, and targeted academic interventions covering literacy, reading, phonics, and spelling.
  • Monitor, record, and observe student progress during interventions, providing constructive feedback to teaching staff.
  • Supervise whole classes or small groups on an occasional basis during specific times, such as wet play.
  • Support the emotional well-being of students on an individual basis and within small groups.
  • Help run engaging lunchtime activities, such as the school games club, to foster a positive social environment.
  • Assist with SEND team duties, including supervising specialized spaces like The Bridge, study sessions, school trips, and general exam support.
  • Provide formal exam access support—such as reading, scribing, and prompting—in line with official regulations, following the completion of necessary training.
  • Participate in and help deliver specialized training sessions designed to support vulnerable pupils.
  • Supervise morning literacy sessions and after-school homework clubs.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings and ongoing professional training.
  • Operate essential equipment, including printers and laminators, to support daily school operations.

Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
