The Legal Project Manager/Analyst is a key member of the Legal Operations team, responsible for supporting operational activities for the Legal and Compliance department, driving operational excellence across the legal function. This role leads the full lifecycle of complex, cross-functional initiatives — from scoping and design through execution, adoption, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings deep project management expertise combined with strong technical acumen, thrives in ambiguous environments, and works with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support projects, programs and day-to-day operations.
Working with the VP and Director, Global Legal Technology, and the Legal Operations team, the Legal Project Manager/Analyst will:
Project Management Support:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of legal department projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with objectives.
- Support the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track progress against milestones. Develop project reports.
- Manage project documentation.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders.
- Identify and escalate risks to project success as needed.
Technology Support and Coordination:
- Serve as a primary driver for evaluating, selecting, implementing, and optimizing legal technology solutions, including matter management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), e-billing, document automation, legal research platforms, and AI-powered tools.
- Partner with IT and external vendors to manage technical configurations, system integrations, data migration, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live cutover planning.
- Act as a functional system administrator or super-user for core legal platforms — troubleshooting issues, managing user provisioning, and coordinating with vendor support teams.
- Monitor the legal technology market and advise leadership on emerging tools, innovations, and AI capabilities that can enhance team efficiency, reduce risk, and lower outside counsel spend.
Knowledge Management:
- Support the development and maintenance of frameworks and systems for organizing and storing legal department information, ensuring accessibility and security as backup for access management.
- Assist in creating and managing knowledge-sharing resources, such as websites, templates, playbooks, and FAQs.
- Promote a culture of knowledge sharing within the legal team.
- 7-10 years of professional experience (or a combination of education and experience)
- 2-5+ years of project management experience (CAP-M or PMP certification is a plus).
- Experience with legal tools and technology, including artificial intelligence.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
- Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and adapt to evolving organizational demands.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific AI tools, including Lexis, ONIT, Microsoft Co-Pilot, Anthropic Claude and other current and emerging AI tools and technologies.
- Experience in corporate legal environments, insurance, or financial services preferred.
