The Opportunity

Cochlear has a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for a Legal Counsel, Procurement & IT based in our Sydney, Macquarie Office. In this role you will assist the General Counsel, Global Supply Chain & Operations to provide essential legal support to the Procurement and IT teams, by drafting, advising on and negotiating a range of agreements with suppliers globally including technology and supply chain agreements. You will also provide legal guidance on privacy aspects of contracting and give general legal support to the Global Supply Chain, Finance, and People & Culture teams, ensuring that Cochlear’s legal interests are protected and business objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key members of the Procurement and IT teams.
  • Supporting drafting and negotiation of critical procurement and IT contracts to manage Cochlear’s risk.
  • Providing legal advice on the privacy aspects of commercial contracting.

About You

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Law degree from an Australian University.
  • 5 – 7 years relevant post-admission legal experience.
  • Experience in commercial contracting, technology and privacy.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and provide commercially focused legal advice.
  • Experience in managing high-value transactions and engaging with stakeholders.

Ideal Experience:

  • Experience in manufacturing and supply chain law.
  • Experience in cross-border transactions and working within the health services or manufacturing sectors.
