About The RoleVerifone is looking for a Legal Counsel for a 4-month period starting no later than end of January 2026 to cover the parental leave of one of our team members.
As a Legal Counsel at Verifone, you will be an integral member of our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) legal team, with a particular focus on our operations in France. You will collaborate closely with local business leaders to identify and address legal risks and draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and provide expert legal advice. This position also entails close cooperation with our global litigation, employment, and intellectual property (IP) law teams on local law matters. The role will report to the Head of Legal for the EMEA region who is based in London. Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Risk Management: Collaborate with business leaders in France to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with Verifone's operations.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial legal agreements, including hardware sales agreements, software license agreements, SaaS agreements, data protection agreements, and others.
- Deal Structuring: Advise the business on how best to structure new commercial agreements.
- RFP Review: Review RFP conditions and responses to ensure compliance with legal requirements and Verifone's global risk policies.
- Legal Advisory: Provide general legal advice on the company's operations in France, with a focus on compliance with local and international laws.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the global litigation, employment, and IP law teams on French matters overseen by those teams.
- Fully qualified attorney in France.
- Fluency in French and English.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial law at a distinguished law firm.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and on multi-jurisdictional transactions.
- Experience with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is preferred but not required.
- Strong contract drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and a keen ability to learn and understand new products, services, and laws.
- Previous experience working as in-house counsel is not required.
