Job Posting Description:

This is an onsite role #LI-Onsite

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will support and provide legal advice to the LCBO's multiple departments on matters of commercial law.

About the Role

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements relating to marketing & advertising, retail operations, supply chain & logistics, and IT.   
  • Supporting the operations and strategic goals of the LCBO by conducting legal research and providing advice to Senior Counsel and the Assistant General Counsel on commercial law and regulatory matters.
  • Assessing and communicating legal risks while collaborating on the development of business strategies.

About You

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 0+ years of experience dealing with a variety of commercial law matters, gained from a major law firm or large in-house legal department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a client-oriented approach, and a demonstrated ability to build trust with colleagues and internal clients to present issues, options and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to project manage critical work to completion.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and pro-actively look for opportunities to add value.
  • Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Solid legal training and pragmatic experience in corporate and commercial legal matters.
