About the Role

In conjunction with the Head of Enterprise Legal and other senior members of the legal team, the role is responsible for providing legal advice to Rest Business Units, Board and management regarding Rest’s legal rights and duties in respect of the commercial activities of Rest. Where appropriate or required, the role will also assist with other matters being handled by the broader Enterprise Legal team.   

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on the commercial contracting needs (including IT contracting) and on Corporate matters. 
  • Manage the timely review and negotiation of key commercial and supplier agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on regulatory developments and their impact on the business.
  • Partner with teams across Rest to support strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to policy development, governance reporting and Board submissions.
  • Build trusted relationships with business leaders, external advisers and regulators.
  • Deliver legal training and help foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvemen

Qualifications

  • Law degree with admission in an appropriate jurisdiction.
  • Hold an Australian state based practising certificate.
  • Prior expertise in legal roles with an emphasis on commercial contracting and financial services, in particular superannuation 
  • Thorough knowledge of legal obligations as they relate to superannuation funds and superannuation trustees
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal, risk and business outcomes.
  • A solid understanding of the regulatory environment impacting superannuation trustees.
  • Excellent drafting skills with a focus on clear, practical advice and plain English.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and collaborate across all levels of the business.

Skills Required
