Brambles, a global ASX 20-listed organisation and recognised leader in sustainable supply chain solutions, is seeking a talented Legal Counsel to support our Australian and New Zealand businesses. This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys variety, wants closer exposure to business decision-making, and is looking to develop into a well-rounded in-house legal professional.

Reporting to the Regional General Counsel, APAC, you'll join a collaborative and high-performing legal team that partners closely with business leaders across Australia and New Zealand. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of legal matters and play an important role in helping the business manage risk while achieving its strategic objectives.

About the Job

As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across a variety of areas, including commercial contracts, procurement, disputes, property, operations, compliance, technology and corporate matters. This role is based at both our Macquarie Park and Sydney CBD offices with flexible hybrid work arrangements (2-3 days/week in the office).

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Advising business stakeholders on day-to-day legal issues across Australia and New Zealand
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of customer, supplier and commercial agreements
  • Supporting business teams on procurement, technology, digital and operational initiatives
  • Assisting with dispute resolution matters and the management of external legal advisors
  • Advising on property, leasing and operational matters
  • Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks across business activities
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments relevant to the organisation
  • Supporting strategic projects and transactions, including acquisitions and integration activities where required
  • Contributing to legal knowledge sharing, training and continuous improvement initiatives across the legal function

We're looking for an adaptable and commercially minded lawyer who enjoys variety and takes a pragmatic approach to problem solving.

You will bring:

  • A law degree and admission as a solicitor in Australia
  • Approximately 4-7 years' post-qualification experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house environment
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience advising on commercial contracts and general corporate or commercial legal matters
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset and sound commercial judgement
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to work across diverse legal issues

Previous secondment or in-house experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
