About the team and role:
An opportunity for an excellent lawyer with strong analytical, drafting and communication skills to develop their career in financial markets. A team player, you will provide legal services to support ASX’s diverse businesses, with a particular focus on financial markets, clearing and settlement and financial benchmarks.

What you will be doing:
Collaborate across ASX’s businesses and functional areas to drive results
Provide high quality legal advice and inputs on a broad range of regulatory matters including:
Advising on financial products, services, markets and clearing and settlement facilities
Drafting changes to the operating rules and procedures that govern the operation of ASX’s markets and clearing and settlement facilities
Engaging with our regulators including ASIC, RBA and Treasury
Supporting our business teams on initiatives such as new products and services
Supporting our operations, risk and compliance teams to manage market issues, rules compliance issues, and other issues involved in operating critical market infrastructure
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements across a range of areas including financial services and technology
Participate in and support ASX engagement in regulatory processes and reporting and policy development
Participate and build collaboration in cross functional teams including legal representation on cross business projects
What you will bring:
Must have
2-6 years in a leading law firm and/or in-house legal role
Built specialist expertise in one or more of these areas:
Financial markets, securities and financial services regulation
Banking and finance
Litigation with a specialisation in the matters above
Strong drafting and analytical skills
Strong academic and professional qualifications
Nice to have:
A keen interest in financial markets: how they work and are regulated
Experience in or servicing a highly-regulated industry and dealing with regulators in Australia or overseas
