This position serves as a central resource for legal operations, compliance program administration, policy management, regulatory research, privacy program support, litigation coordination, and organizational risk management. Success in this role requires sound judgment, strong organization, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while protecting confidential and privileged information. 

About the Role

The Legal & Compliance Paralegal plays a critical role in ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are met with precision and timeliness. This position is responsible for managing and reviewing legal documents and supporting the company's financial and operational activities. The specialist will oversee the processes, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable laws and internal policies. Additionally, the role involves extensive data entry and meticulous filing to maintain organized and accessible records that support audit readiness and regulatory compliance. Ultimately, this position safeguards the company's legal integrity and operational compliance, contributing to risk mitigation and business continuity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal and regulatory research and prepare concise summaries, memoranda, and supporting materials for attorney review. 
  • Support contract intake, routing, tracking, signature, renewal and maintain accurate contract files and key-date information. 
  • Assist with corporate filings, licensure materials, regulatory submissions, subpoenas, document requests, and other legal matters as directed. 
  • Coordinate litigation and claims support, including document collection, legal holds, matter files, calendars, and communication with internal stakeholders and outside counsel. 
  • Maintain organized legal records, templates, trackers, and departmental knowledge resources. 
  • Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, meeting materials, and other professional work product. 
  • Support implementation and administration of the organization's compliance program, annual work plan, and related initiatives. 
  • Assist with audits, monitoring activities, corrective-action plans, risk assessments, investigations, and compliance reporting. 
  • Coordinate compliance committee meetings, including agendas, materials, minutes, action items, and follow-up. 
  • Maintain compliance logs, dashboards, training records, disclosure records, and other program documentation. 
  • Support administration of the privacy program and compliance with applicable privacy and security requirements, including HIPAA. 
  • Assist with intake, documentation, investigation, and tracking of privacy complaints, incidents, and potential breaches. 
  • Administer policy-management workflows, including drafting support, review routing, approvals, publication, periodic review, and version control. 
  • Assist with enterprise risk assessments, mitigation plans and governance projects. 
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and help communicate operational impacts to appropriate stakeholders. 
  • Support special projects and perform other related duties assigned by the General Counsel or Compliance Director. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and general healthcare regulatory requirements. 
  • Familiarity with legal document management, basic contract administration, policy management, audits, and investigations. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. 
  • Ability to research unfamiliar legal or regulatory topics and translate findings into clear, practical summaries. 
  • Proven experience working with legal documents and loan documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document management.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent legal training.
  • Proficiency with legal management software and document management systems. .

Skills Required
