The Leave Manager oversees the day-to-day management of employee leaves of absence, accommodations, workers' compensation claims, and related OSHA compliance activities. This role serves as a key resource for employees, managers, and HR partners by providing guidance, coordinating documentation, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring leave-related processes are handled consistently and in accordance with applicable requirements.
What You Get To Do:
- Leave of Absence Management: Manage employee leave requests from initial intake through return to work, including reviewing documentation, supporting FMLA and other protected leave processes, explaining benefits and PTO usage, maintaining accurate records, and communicating timely updates to employees, managers, and HR partners.
- Employee Accommodations: Coordinate accommodation requests by reviewing documentation, tracking physical requirements and restrictions, participating in interactive discussions as needed, and ensuring accommodation agreements and supporting documentation are completed and communicated appropriately.
- Workers' Compensation Management: Manage workplace injury claims from initial reporting through resolution, ensuring timely communication with insurance carriers and internal stakeholders, accurate documentation, required reporting, claim tracking, and return-to-work/job modification strategies.
- OSHA Compliance & Employee Health Tracking: Support OSHA compliance related to workplace injuries, bloodborne pathogen exposures, and communicable diseases. Coordinate required medical screenings, maintain exposure and incident documentation, and ensure OSHA-recordable incidents are properly tracked and reported.
- Employee & Manager Support: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees and managers by explaining leave and accommodation processes, providing guidance on required documentation, answering questions, and delivering training and support to promote consistent and compliant practices.
MUST HAVE:
- HR Experience: 2–3 years of Human Resources experience, with experience in leave of absence management and/or workers' compensation administration.
- Leave & Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of leave of absence processes and the ability to stay current on applicable state and federal leave requirements and changing regulations.
- Organization & Technology: Strong organizational and computer skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, documentation, deadlines, records, and confidential employee information accurately.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree related to Human Resources (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Professional Certification: PHR, SHRM-CP, or CHRS (Certified Human Resources Specialist).
- Multi-State HR Experience: Experience in multi-state HR operations or human services environments.
- Specialized Training: Completion of specialized certification or formal training in FMLA, leave administration, or related HR compliance areas is a strong plus.
