THE ROLE
The Learning Business Partner (LBP) drives learning and development (L&D) strategies aligned with business goals. Reporting to Senior Manager, People & Culture, this role focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs, supporting leadership development, and ensuring effective succession planning. The LBP will collaborate with key stakeholders to foster a learning culture, enhance employee capabilities, and strengthen career progression frameworks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Design & Learning Development:
- Design and develop engaging and impactful learning programs using instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
- Utilize various learning modalities (e-learning, classroom, virtual, blended learning) to deliver scalable training solutions.
- Develop training materials, job aids, facilitator guides, and assessment tools to support learning initiatives.
- Assist Product Managers in creating technical training curriculums and programs to ensure employees and clients have a deep understanding of product features, functionality, and best practices.
- Implement learning technology platforms and tools to enhance training effectiveness.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
Training & Development:
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and develop appropriate learning solutions.
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and coaching programs for employees and leaders.
- Partner with department heads and subject matter experts to design role-specific training programs.
- Support the onboarding process by designing and delivering structured learning experiences for new hires.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning through knowledge-sharing initiatives and self-directed learning resources.
Succession Planning & Leadership Development:
- Work closely with P&C – Business Partners and leadership teams to identify high-potential employees and develop talent pipelines.
- Implement leadership development programs to strengthen managerial and leadership capabilities.
- Support the design and execution of succession planning frameworks to ensure business continuity and growth.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to emerging leaders to enhance career development opportunities.
- Analyze workforce trends and skills demands to recommend future-focused L&D strategies.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as an L&D consultant to business leaders, providing insights and recommendations on talent development.
- Work with P&C - Business Partners and leadership teams to align learning initiatives with business priorities.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external training vendors and industry experts.
- Drive employee engagement through learning and career development initiatives.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in learning & development, instructional design, or a related HR role.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and
training evaluation frameworks.
- Certification in instructional design, coaching, or leadership development (e.g., CPLP, ATD, CIPD) is an asset.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate), and virtual training platforms.
- Proven ability to develop and execute leadership development and succession planning strategies.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of competency frameworks, career pathing, and talent development best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal communication skills
- Must have strategic agility, be open-minded, and demonstrate creativity
- Must be able to work independently but also be a collaborative team player
- Self-starter who proactively takes initiative on tasks and will be driving the change management efforts
- Strong proficiency in computer and software skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attention to detail is a must
Desirable:
- Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or operations industry
- Bilingual would be an asset.
