About the Role

Are you passionate about developing people, building capability and creating a strong learning culture? Do you enjoy working closely with operational teams to deliver practical, site-based training that supports safety, performance and employee development?

We are seeking a Learning & Development Co-ordinator to join our Portland Aluminium team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will deliver training, coordinate learning programs and maintain competency systems that support employee development, compliance and workplace safety.

Working closely with leaders and operational teams, you will support workforce capability through effective training delivery, record management and continuous improvement of learning processes.


Your role will be varied and rewarding, with responsibilities including:

  • Delivering training, assessments and competency-based learning programs
  • Coordinating mobile equipment training, compliance requirements and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintaining training records, competency data and Learning Management System accuracy.
  • Supporting trainers, leaders and subject matter experts to build workforce capability.
  • Reviewing and improving training materials, systems and learning processes.
  • Promoting a strong learning culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring training activities comply with site, company and legislative requirements.
  • Providing guidance on training, competency and workforce development needs.

What You Can Bring to the Role

  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience delivering training, assessments and competency-based learning programs.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems and maintaining training records.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across the business.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Experience delivering safety training within industrial environments (highly regarded).
  • Experience reviewing and updating training materials is desirable.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

About the Location

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Skills Required
