Your role and responsibilities
Category Specialist for Metal fabrication will develop, plan, and implement procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery, and resilient supply. Ensure execution in accordance with company procurement and supply base management instructions and procedures. Expert of market intelligence, metal fabrication, material tech and cost model. Manage frame agreement. Leading and manage cross projects within product lines.
The work model for the role is: onsite
This role is contributing to the Distribution Solutions division in China.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Leveraging the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing process for implementing effective sourcing strategies in line with business strategy and ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements.
- Negotiate agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renew price lists, and terms and conditions. Ensuring identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability) in accordance with company policies.
- Develop and optimize cost models for fabricated parts. Be accountable for the category budget and deliver against annual cost-saving targets. Track and report savings and avoidance. Act as the central point of communication and alignment for all product lines involved in the metal fabrication category. Build consensus for the category strategy.
- Establish and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and workflows specific to the metal fabrication category. Spend and demand analysis, analyze historical spending and forecast future demand to identify consolidation and leveraging opportunities. Market analysis and continuously monitor the metals market, index price global trade policies. Prepare and release index price guide, and prepare hedging strategy
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor of Engineering, material, or other related. +5 years of experience in Sourcing/Procurement/Supply chain for Metal
- Rich technical knowledge: Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (machining, welding, stamping, bending, surface treatment), materials type (steel, copper, stainless), solid understanding of drawing requirements
- Leading complex and key supplier negotiation, cost and financial analysis and contract management. Index material analytic skill and basic hedging knowledge
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead without direct authority, influence stakeholders, and manage a team.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture and translate it into a action projects list, long-term plan.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and root-cause analysis skills to resolve complex supply, quality, and cost issues.
- Extensive knowledge of working in sourcing, supply chain and/or purchasing. Advanced English Skill. Good at communication, careful, patient, with good customer service awareness
