Business Unit Overview
This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global teams. Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Position Overview
The Leadership Development Manager will play a pivotal role in cultivating and nurturing the next generation of leaders. You will be responsible for managing the organization's learning initiatives and developing strategies to enhance employee skills and knowledge. You will develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive leadership development programs that align with Novanta’s strategic goals.
This role involves assessing organizational needs, creating and executing learning events programs and evaluating their effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of adult learning principles.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assess Learning Needs: Collaborate with department heads and HR to identify training needs and develop appropriate solutions.
- Develop Learning Strategies: Design and implement comprehensive learning strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Execute learning events: Design, develop, and deliver innovative learning programs, including virtual and in-person workshops, e-learning modules, and other learning formats that engage and educate participants effectively
- Support Career Development: Assist employees in aligning their career goals with individual development plans.
- Serve as a Learning culture ambassador: Foster a culture of L&D best practices by supporting teams to embed ongoing feedback, recognition, coaching and mentoring.
- Support performance management: Enable performance management processes aligned with Novanta performance culture framework.
- Lead on learning technology adoption: Promote the use of technology and relevant solutions to enhance learning and development across teams to establish healthy collaboration to equip our workforce to meet current and future business challenges.
- Change agility: Build confidence and competence in people/ teams about managing change in an agile manner by sharing learning approaches they can proactively optimize from to prepare towards uncertain situations.
- Measure Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or other related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership development, learning and development, or educational program development.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in LMS software, e-learning platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of training programs and measure ROI.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with employees, management, and external vendors.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment.
- Certifications: CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) or other relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
- Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends and incorporate best practices into learning and development initiatives.
