Overview:
- The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will support the Chief Technologist and the Program Manager in the development of requirements advanced ISR and laser systems in addition to the adaptation of new technologies in the portfolio. This includes owning the development and maturation of the system level requirements throughout the phases of the development cycle, starting at PDR and up to completion of system level qualification tests.
- The Lead SE will also support the development of subsystem and system requirements by leading requirements IPT and working group meetings with the customer and subcontractors.
- The Lead SE should have experience in development of Air Defense and/or laser weapon systems with the technical background to understand the intent and integration of all sub-systems.
- The Lead SE will have the depth of system engineering knowledge and industry practice to support the development of program specific SE standards and procedures that will support Advanced Concepts programs and pursuits (both internal and external).
- The Lead SE will mentor less senior level engineers and ensure the development process is progressing within the accepted practices of the system engineering discipline.
- The Lead SE will support the creation and tracking of system engineering metrics to measure the development progress of the program.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- BS degree in an engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- 12 years of related experience.
- Lead and coordinate system level technical interchange meetings and design reviews
- Experience with ISR and laser systems
- Support and/or lead failure investigation teams
- Manage and gain program approval of the system and non-legacy component verification and validation methods
- Support and/or lead system trade studies
- Proficient in DOORS, to include but not limited to the creation and managing of parent/child specifications
- Knowledge of EVM concepts and performing CAM duties
- Interface Control Document (ICD) development
- Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) development
- Support and/or lead engineering review boards
- Support system integration, test, and/or verification
- Support test planning, test readiness review, and execution
- Support and/or lead risk and opportunity management board meetings in identifying risks and developing mitigation plans
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD secret clearance
