Exciting opportunity to join the ConocoPhillips Australia team in Brisbane as Lead, Supply Chain Projects.

Position Overview

ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.

About the Role

Reporting to the Australia Supply Chain Manager, the Lead, Supply Chain Projects is responsible for delivering sourcing, contracting, market intelligence, and joint venture review support across the Australian Business Unit.

The role leads sourcing and contracting activities from strategy development through to contract award and ongoing commercial management, ensuring outcomes are delivered in alignment with ConocoPhillips policies, procedures, and business objectives.

The position provides market intelligence and commercial analysis to support procurement strategies, business planning, risk management, and value creation opportunities. It also supports shareholder governance activities for operator-managed assets, including Australia Pacific LNG and associated upstream operations, through the review of procurement strategies, contract recommendations, and key commercial decisions.

Working collaboratively across business, technical, and functional teams, the role delivers clear commercial insights, recommendations, and communications that support effective decision-making and stakeholder alignment.

The position also identifies opportunities to enhance Supply Chain performance through continuous improvement and the effective application of digital tools, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled technologies.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Execute strategic sourcing and contracting activities in line with ConocoPhillips policies, procedures, and business requirements.

  • Deliver commercial value through market analysis, supplier engagement, negotiation, and effective contract management.

  • Support governance, approval processes, and shareholder reviews for key procurement and contracting activities.

  • Provide market intelligence and commercial insights to support business planning and decision-making.

  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and commercial recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, and the effective application of digital tools, automation and AI-enabled technologies.

You will bring to the role:Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, law, engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within energy, industrial, manufacturing, mining, chemicals, or similarly complex operational environments.

  • Minimum 3 years’ of contracts and procurement experience.

  • Effective time management, strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Strong written & verbal communication as well as presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges and unexpected obstacles promptly and practically.

  • Sound commercial acumen – including a strong understanding value for money and risk management.

  • Strong digital literacy and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and apply technology, automation, data analytics and AI-enabled tools to streamline processes, strengthen decision-making, and improve business outcomes.

  • Ability to adapt effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred:
  • Prior experience in upstream Oil and Gas operations.

  • Prior Cross Functional (non-Supply Chain) experience.

  • Project management and/or experience with preparation of presentations to Senior Management.
