Working as a Software Quality Engineer for the Hue bridge is dynamic. You will be working in the Hue R&D team, with other software engineers, on one of the largest commercial IoT systems. We are greater together through peer learning in our globally diverse team, with different backgrounds and nationalities. 

In this environment our customers should be able to rely on new functions whilst maintaining stability and high performance. To achieve this, we require highly skilled and motivated engineers that can work with the latest techniques and practices in the world of networked devices and agile software development.

As a Software Quality Engineer for the Hue Bridge, your role is to support the development team with your test expertise and test automation knowledge to guard the (software) quality of the Hue Bridge. You will create test designs, implement them and make sure that they run automatically.

What you do

This position opens a great opportunity for those who wish to contribute to development and further growth of the largest IoT ecosystem in the world:

  • Join the team responsible for cloud connectivity, security, and fleet management of Hue Bridge devices, 

  • Participate in development of new IoT infrastructure together with developers, 

  • Design and implement test strategy for the current and new IoT features, 

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests, 

  • Perform initial investigation of problems found in the software, 

  • Guide team members in performing test activities, 

  • Learn and innovate on our development practices and processes, 

  • Explore opportunities of full stack IoT SW development, from devices to cloud, 

  • Develop using a wide variety of programming languages: Python, C#, bash, Go, C, C++. 

What you need

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer with a passion for home automation. Candidates with one or more of the following skills have preference: 

  • You have a background in computer science, mathematics or similar

  • You can manage expectations by defining clear responsibilities, priorities, and acceptance criteria, 

  • You can deliver high quality work under deadlines in an innovative environment, 

  • You are proud of what you do and have a deep passion to do things right, 

  • You have a solid understanding of the agile development process

  • You have knowledge and experience in the areas of DevOps and data-driven product development, 

  • You have at least 5 years of experience with product testing, preferably in an IoT related environment, 

  • You are familiar and experienced with test automation, test processes, test strategies, 

  • You have experience with Linux as a development platform, but unafraid to try other environments and platforms, 

  • You have good knowledge of English both written and verbal, excellent communication skills, 

  • You have the ambition to work with highly intelligent peers and business leaders in a vibrant, collaborative environment while developing the skills required to excel!
