Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Software QA Engineer to join our QA team. This role will focus on ensuring the quality of both legacy Java applications and new cloud-based React applications, with an emphasis on test automation to support our CI/CD pipeline. Experience with automated functional software testing including, but not limited to Selenium, is highly desirable. In addition to technical leadership, this position includes people management responsibilities, such as mentoring team members, providing constructive feedback, and participating in performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for both Java-based legacy applications and React-based cloud applications.
  • Implement and optimize automated testing frameworks, ensuring seamless integration within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Utilize Selenium to create robust and scalable automated tests, achieving comprehensive test coverage.

Quality Assurance and Testing

  • Create and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate application functionality, performance, and user experience.
  • Ensure thorough testing coverage, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

People Management & Leadership

  • Mentoring & Coaching: Guide QA team members in technical and professional development, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide timely, actionable feedback to improve individual and team performance.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and identify opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Team Development: Promote collaboration, inclusivity, and a positive team culture aligned with organizational goals.
  • Workload Management: Assign tasks effectively, balance priorities, and ensure optimal resource utilization across projects.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with development, product management, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality software.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting on QA activities, progress, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration within and across teams.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Identify potential quality risks early in the development lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure applications comply with regulatory standards and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues promptly.

Process Improvement

  • Drive the adoption of CI/CD practices to streamline testing and deployment processes.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in QA technologies and practices.
  • Advocate for best practices in software quality and drive initiatives to enhance the overall quality culture within the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in software quality assurance.
  • Extensive experience with testing Java-based applications and modern web applications, particularly using React.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Strong experience with Selenium for automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with performance testing and security testing practices.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
