Position Summary:
The Lead Software Engineer is a key player on a development team, using an Agile development model in a fast-paced and innovative environment. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading the team through influence by providing technical guidance and direction, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating and communicating cross-functionally to create and deliver technical solutions to meet Product and customer needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Consistently leads a development team, through influence, by providing technical guidance, feedback, and direction that aligns with Product and business requirements through coaching and mentoring
- Demonstrates ability to produce guidance and suggestions to Product and business partners
- Exemplifies ‘One Team’ mindset and overall strong communication to drive collaboration with designers, developers and other relevant partners or clients
- Provide recommendations to development of new code, redesign, or reuse of existing code
- Creates, maintains, and refines documentation that is easily consumed by others
- Ability to articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audience
- Collaborates cross-functionally
- Maintains and holds the team accountable to standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits that align with company development standard and architecture input
- Recognized as a domain expert in a specific domain both technically and from a Product perspective
- Demonstrates basic understanding of SDLC
- Beings to improves code structure and architecture in service of testability and maintainability
- TypeScript, Sass and other technologies with guidance from more experienced engineers
- Independently Develop, document, and enhance API endpoints using Node.js or C#, .NET / .NET core, AWS lambda, serverless, API Gateway and SQL. Using frameworks like Entity Framework Core, working with IDE's such as Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
- Implement CI / CD pipeline for automated distribution of applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI.
- Implements code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood by others
- Is responsible for the entire lifecycle of their code: development, test, production, and subsequent fixes and improvements
- Independently performs code reviews that follow Truckstop's published standards and practices and that are recognized by their team as helpful
- Improves the development experience at Truckstop by enhancing development tools, test coverage, and/or code structure
- Proactively influence squad communication and team dynamics to accomplish the tactical mission of the squad
- Collaborates with others across squads to remove impediments and blockers
- Strong debugging and diagnostic skills
- Design solutions that align with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards
- Able to articulate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Skilled at clearly documenting design and concept ideas
- Skilled ability to develop and coach partners for improved and sustained performance
- Skilled at providing and receiving both constructive and positive feedback
- Other duties as assigned or needed
Position Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Understanding of object-oriented principles and software design pattern
- Ability to demonstrate the basics of responsive web apps using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
- Basic knowledge of modern front-end JS frameworks and libraries specifically Angular, StencilJS
- Understanding with C#, Asp.Net / Asp.Net core, Entity framework
- Understanding of Ad-Hoc SQL queries, Transactional Queries, and Stored Procedures
- Understanding of TDD and JS testing frameworks like Jest / Karma, Protractor/ Cypress / Selenium
- Understanding using CSS preprocessors such as SASS
- Basic knowledge integrating apps with RESTful API’s or GraphQL
- Basic understanding Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud services a plus
- Basic knowledge of API development using Node.js or Asp.net core, AWS lambda, serverless, API Gateway a plus
