Ethoca Smart Subscriptions, part of Mastercard's Consumer Clarity suite, enables issuers to provide customers with seamless visibility and control over their subscription payments directly within banking applications.
The team builds scalable, API-driven platforms that identify, enrich, and manage subscription payments, helping reduce disputes, improve transparency, and enhance customer experience.

Role• Act as a technical lead to deliver end-to-end product development• Build full-stack solutions using microservices, event-driven architectures and cloud-native technologies• Ensure quality, performance, security, and other NFR benchmarks• Mentor and guide engineering teams; drive adoption of best practices and new technologies• Collaborate with global stakeholders including Product, Business, Architecture and other engineering teams• Lead initiatives to improve automation, engineering efficiency and product quality• Drive POCs and technology decisions aligned with business and platform needs
All About You• 10-15 years of experience as a hands-on technologist with strong Object-Oriented Design and clean coding practices in Java (SOLID principles)• Strong expertise in microservices, event-driven architecture and scalable system design• Experience with Spring Boot, cloud platforms and Agile (SAFe) delivery models• Proven experience in building real-time, high-scale applications• Strong problem-solving mindset with ability to design innovative, scalable solutions• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across global teams• Ability to mentor teams and drive technical excellence
Preferred Skills / Experience• Java: J2EE, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA• Frontend: Angular / React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS• Distributed systems: caching, messaging/event frameworks• Database: PostgreSQL (optimized SQL development)• API design and implementation• CI/CD and cloud-native development practices• Experience delivering enterprise-grade software
