SS&C GIDS – Senior Application Engineer Workflow

Join a major modernization program within the Wealth Management domain, supporting application environments, CI/CD workflows, automation, and deployment readiness.
This role combines systems administration, environment engineering, DevOps support, and problem investigation, ensuring stability and reliability across multiple non‑production and production environments.

You will work across Windows, Linux, application servers, release pipelines, monitoring platforms, and enterprise infrastructure teams to ensure smooth delivery, deployment, and operations.

Role Responsibilities

Environment & System Support

  • Manage and support Chorus environments across Windows Servers.
  • Perform system administration tasks including logs analysis, service management, scheduled tasks, permissions, and resource monitoring.
  • Support environment readiness activities such as dependency checks, configuration alignment, deployment validation, and data refresh coordination.
  • Diagnose environment-related issues including DNS, routing, port connectivity, firewall behaviour, load balancers, and certificate usage.
  • Support SFTP, SSH, key‑based authentication, and automated file‑transfer workflows.

CI/CD, Automation & Tools

  • Support, configure, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines (primarily Jenkins).
  • Contribute to automation efforts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Work with version control practices (Git, GitHub) and associated tooling such as SonarQube, Nexus IQ/Lifecycle, and ServiceNow.
  • Assist with release activities, deployment frameworks, and change/incident management processes.

Application & Infrastructure Support

  • Support and troubleshoot Chorus application and web servers including IIS, JBoss, and Apache.
  • Analyse logs and trace failures to identify issues across multiple environments.
  • Work with APIs, service endpoints, authentication flows, and service‑to‑service communication patterns.
  • Identify root causes across environmental, configuration, dependency, infrastructure, or data-related domains.
  • Testing bug fixes and assisting with production deployments

Monitoring & Observability

  • Use monitoring and alerting tools (Elastic, Dynatrace) to analyse performance or integration issues.
  • Detect and diagnose certificate failures, trust chain issues, and authentication misconfigurations.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Participate in cross‑functional delivery teams alongside Developers, QAs, BAs, Architects, and Platform/Infrastructure teams to deliver Workflow solutions
  • Support client-facing workshops and communicate Chorus technical changes clearly to non‑technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with Testers to ensure Quality delivered solutions
  • Experience in Chorus Workflow Development and solutions
  • Experience with Application workflows, Model Analysis and Administration workspace
  • Knowledge of Analytics (Chorus Reporting)

Continuous Improvement & Documentation

  • Contribute to process improvement and environment reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain structured documentation including environment diagrams, runbooks, and change impact assessments.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, operational consistency, and repeatability across supported environments.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Mid-level system administration experience across Windows Server and Linux.
  • CI/CD experience including Jenkins and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience with Workflow and the Chorus application
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Programming/database competency: C#, Python, MS SQL, Oracle SQL.
  • Chorus or Workflow Development knowledge or experience
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Operating systems internals
    • Logs and service management
    • Scheduled tasks/cron
    • Permissions and access models
    • Resource monitoring
  • Networking fundamentals: DNS, routing, firewall rules, load balancers, certificates.
  • Experience with IIS, JBoss, Apache, and API-based integrations.
  • Experience supporting SFTP/SSH and secure authentication methods.
  • Monitoring tools: Elastic, Dynatrace.
  • Source control: Git.

  • Knowledge of enterprise release & change management processes.
