We are the Grab Payment Platform team, responsible for providing fundamental technological capabilities for Grab payments and other Grab Finance products. Join Grab's engineering team and contribute to innovation, in the area of payments. You will develop consumer and partner-facing features for one of Southeast Asia's most widely used applications.

Get To Know The Role

We are looking for a passionate Lead Engineer with platform design and development experience to join our team. You will have opportunities to architect, design, develop and maintain mission critical financial systems and services. You will chart and lead the pursuit of the broader technical strategy, working with engineering, product managers and business owners. You will be reporting to the Head Of Engineering. This is an onsite role in Bangalore.

The Critical task you will perform

• Architect and design complex payment systems with a platform-driven approach, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and setting for availability, performance, and efficiency across Grab's product ecosystem.
• Partner with teams, including product and experience teams, to shape technical decisions and define feature specifications that create meaningful and lasting impact.
• Lead projects as an engineering owner while mentoring and guiding engineering teams, encouraging growth.
• Provide constructive feedback on code, design, and technical proposals, advocate for best practices, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and software performance optimization.
• Work with SRE and DevOps teams to enhance system reliability, scalability, and overall operational efficiency.

Qualifications

What essential skills you will need

• Foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking.
• At least 8 years of experience, with 5+ years dedicated to designing and building scalable systems.
• High-level design decisions and define technical standards, including software development best practices, tools, and platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Golang, with experience in backend systems involving databases, caching, NoSQL, and application servers.
• Experience with cloud services, OLTP systems, and consumer-facing products.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
