Job Description

Lead Site Reliability Engineer (Lead SRE) is responsible for overseeing the site reliability engineering function within an organization.
Lead SREs provide strategic direction, and drive initiatives to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance. They work closely with cross-functional teams to align reliability goals with business objectives and ensure that the organization's infrastructure and operations meet high standards of reliability and security.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage SRE areas initiatives, ensuring on-time delivery and quality standards, instilling an automation culture. Drive technical initiatives that improve SRE's best practices.
  • Develop and execute the SRE strategy and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead the design and implementation of reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.
  • Define and drive the automation and tooling strategy for the organization and ensure the team is leveraging the tools and technologies to automate workflows & enhance reliability.
  • Oversee performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource management efforts to ensure infrastructure is optimized for current and future growth.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to system reliability and security, ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards in response to compliance audits.
  • Oversee the incident response process and lead major incident investigations. Develop and refine incident management protocols and ensure the team is prepared to handle critical situations
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure the delivery of reliable and performant services.
  • Represent the engineering team in cross-area meetings.
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding process to build a strong engineering team

 

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Product team - Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team ensures reliability and stability of products, integrating Build to Operate. We are embedded into Value Streams impacting Customer Experience on the eCommerce platform. Our focus is on building Observability, Resilience, Release automation, addressing Security vulnerabilities as well as resolving incidents with 24/7 on-call coverage.

 

WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Advanced certifications in project/product management or relevant technologies are a plus.
  • 10+ years of SRE/DevOps experience, with a proven track record of leading various projects.
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and tools pertinent to the SRE competence (Azure/GCP, GitHub Actions, Splunk, Python, NodeJS, ITIL)
  • General Information
  • Proficient in version control systems, such as GitHub, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience with managed cloud Kubernetes services (e.g. AKS, GKE).
  • Experience in establishing SRE Metrics such as SLI, SLO and Error Budget.
  • Proficient knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with experience leading Agile teams.
  • Techno-functional leadership and coaching/mentoring skills with the ability to foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in contribution to hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
  • Ability to drive innovation and improvements in engineering best practices within the team and organization
