Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Scrum Master.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop Scaled Agile portfolios of the highest complexity
- Guide the teams to follow Agile and Scrum practices to promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint
- Optimize scrum team velocity to identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance
- Oversee systemic impediments to team agility and guide the teams on methods to escalate
- Deliver capabilities using agile practices while following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met
- Partner with discipline managers to convey their concerns to scrum teams about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
- Collaborate with product owners, program or project managers to communicate delivery of work product from the teams and escalate key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal customers
- Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Train other Scrum Masters and serve as a mentor to less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Agile Scrum Master experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Agile Scrum Master experience in large-scale Agile and Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments.
- Proven experience building, coaching, and maturing high-performing, self-organizing, and highly accountable engineering teams.
- Experience supporting teams developing modern cloud-native applications, distributed systems, microservices, and enterprise Java platforms.
- Exposure to AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, Machine Learning, or intelligent automation initiatives within product delivery organizations.
- Strong understanding of engineering excellence practices including CI/CD, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, automation, and platform engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to drive Agile transformation, organizational change, and continuous improvement across multiple teams and portfolios.
- Experience partnering with Engineering Managers, Architects, Product Managers, and Technical Leads to improve delivery predictability, quality, and operational excellence.
- Expertise in metrics-driven delivery management, including velocity, flow efficiency, lead time, cycle time, and value delivery measurements.
- Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM), or equivalent Agile certifications preferred.

- Partner with engineering leadership to scale Agile practices across rapidly evolving modernization programs involving cloud, AI, Java, and emerging technologies.
- Enable teams to adopt Lean-Agile principles that improve speed-to-market, quality, predictability, and customer value delivery.
- Guide teams through organizational and technology transformations while maintaining delivery commitments and team engagement.
- Promote technical agility by collaborating with architects and engineering leaders on modernization initiatives, platform simplification, automation, and technical debt reduction.
- Establish outcome-based performance measures and use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks, optimize delivery flow, and improve team effectiveness.
- Mentor Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team members on Agile leadership, servant leadership, and scalable delivery practices.
- Support teams operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving business priorities, regulatory requirements, and emerging technology adoption.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration among Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Operations, and Business stakeholders.
- Drive the development of resilient, scalable, and secure software solutions by enabling effective Agile delivery practices across engineering teams.
- Build a learning culture that encourages experimentation, continuous feedback, innovation, and adoption of modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and automation.
