About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Tax Associate who will support day-to-day indirect tax and SEZ activities, with primary responsibility for GST compliance, input tax credit reconciliation, transaction review, tax accounting, regulatory documentation and stakeholder coordination. The role requires strong execution discipline, attention to detail and the ability to identify and escalate compliance risks on a timely basis.
In this role, you will:
  • Prepare and support periodic GST returns, reconciliations and related working papers for applicable registrations and states.
  • Validate outward supply data, e-invoice and e-way bill requirements, and coordinate corrections with relevant stakeholders.
  • Reconcile purchase register, general ledger and GST portal data to identify input tax credit differences, ineligible credits, vendor non-compliance and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain documentation supporting GST positions, tax payments, refund claims, notices, audits and assessments. Track statutory due dates and ensure accurate, complete and timely submissions.
  • Support routine and periodic SEZ compliances, including preparation, tracking and maintenance of applications, approvals, permissions, declarations, registers and supporting records.
  • Coordinate with SEZ authorities, Development Commissioner / Specified Officer, customs teams, authorised dealers, vendors and internal stakeholders for operational requirements.
  • Support documentation for procurement and movement of goods or services, including exemptions, endorsements, authorised operations, asset records and other prescribed evidence.
  • Monitor validity of approvals and execute timely renewals, amendments, submissions and responses to regulatory communications.
  • Assist with SEZ audits, inspections and reconciliations and maintain an organised repository of compliance evidence.
  • Review vendor invoices, purchase orders, contracts and statements of work for GST, place of supply, reverse charge, input tax credit and SEZ implications.
  • Provide practical guidance to supply chain, accounts payable and business teams on invoice requirements, applicable tax treatment and supporting documentation.
  • Support review of customer invoices and other transactions to ensure correct tax classification, rate, documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor relevant changes in GST, customs, Foreign Trade Policy and SEZ regulations and prepare concise impact summaries for management.
  • Prepare and post month-end indirect tax accounting entries and reconciliations within agreed close timelines.
  • Maintain compliance trackers, process documentation, control evidence and issue logs; support RCSA or equivalent control updates where applicable.
  • Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, consultants and compliance teams and provide complete supporting information within timelines.
  • Track notices and communications from tax and regulatory authorities, coordinate data collation and support preparation of accurate responses.
  • Identify process gaps and contribute to standardisation, automation and continuous improvement of tax and SEZ activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of Corporate Tax experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Chartered Accountants with strong experience (post qualification),
  • Should possess good verbal & written communication skills
  • Certification on SEZ, taxation, GST, IFRS or IND AS certification, would be added advantage
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel ; Power point preparation
  • Interpersonal skills

Job Expectations:
  • Willing to travel and flexible for relocation and working on the LOB specific shift.

Skills Required

  • At least 6 months of corporate tax experience, or equivalent experience, training, military experience, or education
