INTRODUCTION
The Lead Revenue Accountant will bring deep Software as a Service (SaaS) revenue accounting expertise to a multi-entity, international organization. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP (ASC 606) while supporting a fast-growing, acquisitive business.

This position will also play a key role in advancing revenue operations toward more scalable, system-driven processes, helping evolve current-state workflows into a more automated and efficient future model.
 

The ideal candidate has experience with complex customer contracts, multi-element arrangements, intercompany transactions, and M&A-related revenue considerations, along with the ability to operate effectively in an environment undergoing systems and process transformation.
 

This role will be a key driver of a continuous improvement culture, working cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Finance, FP&A, Billing, and Systems teams to ensure revenue is recognized accurately and timely while building for scale.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Participate in and lead key aspects of the month-end close process related to revenue, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely reporting

  • Review and prepare revenue-related journal entries, including deferred revenue, contract assets, contract liabilities, and intercompany revenue eliminations

  • Review and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies across key revenue-related accounts

  • Perform detailed reviews of customer contracts to identify performance obligations, transaction price allocation, variable consideration, and revenue recognition timing in accordance with ASC 606

  • Perform revenue flux analysis, develop insights into key drivers, and present variance explanations to Finance leadership

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales Operations, Billing, FP&A, Legal, and Systems teams to ensure proper setup, scalability, and consistency of contract and billing processes

  • Collaborate with Systems and Finance Technology teams to enhance revenue workflows, translating accounting requirements into scalable, system-driven solutions

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline revenue processes, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy, consistency, and auditability

  • Support system enhancements, testing (UAT), and process redesign related to revenue recognition and reporting

  • Review staff accountants’ work, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and feedback to support development and elevate team performance

  • Coordinate PBC preparation and support external audits, including U.S. GAAP and statutory audits

  • Prepare revenue-related disclosures and support financial statement reporting requirements

  • Support M&A activities, including revenue diligence, contract reviews, and integration of acquired entities

  • Document and maintain revenue accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on scalability, control, and continuous improvement

  • Identify process inefficiencies or control gaps, communicate findings to leadership, and implement enhancements to mitigate risk and improve efficiency

  • Partner with Tax, AR, and Treasury to support revenue-related analysis, including cash collections, billings, and deferred revenue trends

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • CPA or equivalent certification

  • B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or equivalent; Master’s preferred

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including General Ledger, consolidations, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606

  • Experience reviewing complex contracts and applying technical accounting guidance

  • Experience mentoring and reviewing the work of others

  • Experience working with ERP and/or revenue systems, with an understanding of how accounting requirements translate into system workflows and design

  • Ability to partner cross-functionally, including with technical teams, to drive process improvements and automation

  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • Sound judgment and ability to make thoughtful, well-reasoned decisions
