As a Lead Project Engineer in Advanced Power Systems at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be part of a team that drives innovation and research and development projects aligned to the Engines and Power Systems strategic business unit. In this role, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge aerospace technologies, contributing to Honeywell Aerospace reputation as a leader in the aerospace industry and enhancing customer satisfaction through superior project execution. You will report directly to a Sr Technical Engineering Manager, and you’ll primarily work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

This position you will be a driving force within the APS project engineering team to ensure research and development projects are resourced, executed on time and within budget and aligned with business objectives and customer needs. Key technical focus areas are the architecture definition, component and materials development, and demonstration for advanced auxiliary power units for next-gen narrow-body aircraft and hybrid electric turbogenerator controls and system development for urban air mobility platforms. 

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement effective project plans including timelines, budgets, deliverables and resource profiles for key APS programs related to the technology maturation for power systems and components and the transition of these technologies into product development
  • Define the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), track project milestones, ensure adherence to strict technical requirements, and provide monthly schedule updates
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as necessary to achieve project goals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Provide technical guidance to project team members to deliver results.
  • Establish project organization chart and operating system to ensure technical coordination and communication to ensure project success 
  • Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks and issues to minimize project delivery impact
  • Provide regular and frequent communication of program status with business, APS, engineering leadership and ensure appropriate customer communication when relevant
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • Technical knowledge of gas turbine engine propulsion or power systems, components, and materials
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in risk management and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a past-paced and dynamic environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project, systems, or test engineering

  • Hands-on background in new product development, research and development, or aerospace testing
  • Technical knowledge of hybrid electric power systems and controls and technical experience in relevant engineering and materials science disciplines
  • Proficiency in project management tools, methodologies, earned value management and critical path management

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $182,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
